Zellen Paper Glaze

Zellen Paper Glaze (often referred to under the Zelcraft / Zellen brand family) is a thick, acid-free, glossy varnish and 3D medium made in South Africa.

What It Is & Uses

• Product Type: Acid-free, thick, glossy clear varnish/medium.

• Surfaces: Used on paper crafts, watercolors, acrylic paints, gouache, posters, and Supa wood blanks.

• Watercolor Safe: Unlike water-based mediums, it can be applied directly over watercolor paints without causing the paint to run, smear, or bleed.

• Darkening Effect: It may make watercolor or gouache appear slightly darker or richer, which can be used intentionally for depth or pattern work.

• 3D & Embossing Effects: Available in standard pour/brush-on bottles (such as 100 ml) as well as fine-tip applicator bottles (such as a 50 ml liner) for raised, glossy dimensional details.

Key Properties & Instructions

• Finish: Smooth, high-gloss, porcelain-like shine.

• Drying Time: Becomes touch-dry in about 1 to 2 hours (depending on thickness); full cure takes 24 hours.

• Permanence: Permanent once dry and cannot be removed.

• Heat Resistance: Not heat-resistant.

• Application & Cleanup:

            • Use synthetic acrylic brushes (soft, firm, and springy).

            • Clean brushes immediately with thinners or acetone (turpentine will not clean it) before it hardens.

            • Pop any air bubbles gently with a pin while wet.

            • Apply in a dust-free, well-ventilated area.
