Acrylic Gilding

Acrylic gilding is the process of using water-based acrylic adhesive size to attach metal leaf sheets (like gold or silver) onto surfaces such as canvas, wood, or paper. It is a fast, easy, and modern alternative to traditional oil or water gilding.

Steps for Acrylic Gilding

• Prepare the surface: Clean your canvas or object and make sure any painted acrylic layers are completely dry.
• Apply the acrylic size: Paint a thin, even layer of acrylic gilding glue (size) onto the exact spots where you want the leaf to stick.
• Wait for tack: Let the size dry until it turns clear and feels sticky or tacky (usually 15 to 60 minutes).
